Dr Yasemin (known to AHPRA as Mehtap Anderson) is a registered Medical Practitioner (General Registrant) with over twenty years’ clinical experience both overseas and in Australia, in Emergency Medicine, Obstetrics and Gynaecology, General Practice and most recently, Psychiatry.  

 

Dr Yasemin’s main area of interest is mental health and navigating the disturbances of the mind with a holistic approach. She holds curiosity and interest in the study of human psychological trauma and the link between that and the human psyche. Following years of training in psychiatry, Dr Yasemin is in the final stages of becoming a fully qualified psychiatrist. She has also undertaken further training in the psychotherapies and completed a higher degree in trauma-informed process-oriented psychotherapy. This school of psychotherapy is a trauma-informed, non-pathologizing psychodynamic approach, focused on the process of the individual, incorporating experiential techniques such as art, drama and movement into therapy. 

 

Dr Yasemin trained in medicine in Istanbul and Vienna, graduating from Istanbul Faculty of Medicine, one of the oldest medical schools in history, dating back to the 15th century. Since 2003, after completion of her intern year in Istanbul (2002), Dr Yasemin has been practicing medicine in Australia, mainly in Brisbane and periods in North QLD, NSW, WA, Tasmania and Victoria, mainly in psychiatry and partly in general practice, more recently.  

 

Dr Yasemin completed a postgraduate degree (graduate diploma) in Trauma-Informed Processwork Psychotherapy in Sydney in 2023. 

 

Dr Yasemin is able to offer assessment and treatment input in most general practice and mental health presentations, in a trauma-informed model of care. She values a holistic, person-centred approach cultivating autonomy, agency, freedom of choice, and respect for diversity. 

 

Dr Yasemin enjoys philosophy, martial arts, dance, drama, cooking, travelling, and learning.
